  • Helped write the 2009 Senate operating budget which filled a $9 billion deficit without raising taxes.
  • Passed Mortgage Disclosure law making sure mortgage terms and conditions are fully understood and in plain writing
  • Passed Foreclosure Fraud which outlawed unscrupulous practices that took advantage of those in financial distress

Championing Our Public Schools

Rodney Tom:

  • Passed the simple majority for school levies.
  • Was a key member of the Basic Education Task Force which started key public education reforms to focus on learning and accountability.
  • Passed legislation establishing the principal leadership academy, working to put great principals in every school

Getting The 520 Bridge Built

Rodney Tom:

  • Co-chaired the SR520 Workgroup which finalized design of Montlake area to keep the bridge on track for completion in 2014

Making Government Reflect Our Values

Rodney Tom:

  • Passed 2 animal cruelty bills focusing on animal abandonment and prohibiting future ownership when convicted of animal cruelty.
  • Helped pass King County menu labeling legislation
  • Passed Medically Accurate Sex Education legislation making sure all sex information is scientifically correct
  • Helped pass equality fairness legislation to ensure Gays and Lesbians are treated fairly on housing and other issues.
